Godiva’s Secret Wigs – Crossdresser Wigs

Over the years I have purchased four crossdresser wigs. The first, a mistake, was a cheap one from Amazon. The next two were from a wig store, but they are a little tight for this crossdresser’s large head. The fourth was from an excellent online wig store named Godiva’s Secret Wigs. Continue to learn out about my experience getting my fifth from Godiva’s Secret again!

Getting Ready for Diva Las Vegas

In July I decided to register for Diva Las Vegas, an October crossdresser gathering in Las Vegas, for the first time. Although I have been crossdressed in public before, including visits to Las Vegas several years ago, it has been a long time and I have some reservations about doing so.

One thing I decided was to try a new wig. I decided on something shorter so that I would look a little more youthful. I looked online for wig stores in Las Vegas. Although I am sure there are stores that would be welcoming, I still didn’t feel comfortable trying wigs in person. So I did the next best thing: shopping online.

Introducing Godiva’s Secret Wigs

Several years ago, I purchased a rather long wig from Godiva’s Secret Wigs. It was rather expensive, but I was hoping that it would look and fit better than others I had purchased in the past. The quality is amazing. When it arrives, one can take the wig out of the box, give it a shake, place it on one’s head, adjust the style with one’s fingers, and be ready to go.

My main problem with the long wig was getting stray hairs in my mouth. It was rather like walking into an unexpected spider web and trying to get it off of you – but it still feels like it is there. That’s how it was with hair in my mouth. It seemed like I was always fighting it.

I suppose I could have learned how to style the wig to keep the stray hairs away from my mouth. I will probably try that some other day, but I took the easy way and bought something shorter.

Here’s a look at the long wig that I bought originally from Godiva’s Secret Wigs:

Choosing a Wig That Fits

Godiva’s Secret Wigs has an extensive selection of wigs – if your head is the size of the average woman. Mine is more like the size of the average gorilla. This is a problem I had with my first wigs. They were way too tight.

Now this isn’t a problem exclusive to Godiva’s Secret Wigs. All wig shops have a fantastic assortment of average-sized wigs and a limited choice with large cap sizes.

What I enjoy is that Godiva’s Secret Wigs has a section of its store devoted to large cap sizes. As of now, they offer eleven different styles of large woman’s wigs.

Although I wanted something shorter, I didn’t want something too short. I wanted to be able to cover my neck area to a degree. After thinking about it, I decided to order the style named “Dawn”. As you can see in the following video, it does cover part of the model’s neck but doesn’t quite reach the shoulders.

Returns and Exchanges with Godiva’s Secret Wigs

So what did I think about my new hairdo once it arrived? Well, the large cap was a great fit on my head, but the hair length definitely was too short. On the model it came almost to her shoulders, but for me it wasn’t anywhere close.

When trying on a new wig from Godiva’s Secret Wigs, you need to take care in case you need to return it. This means not taking off the tag, making sure not to be wearing makeup so that the wig stays pristine, not styling it, etc. In other words, it needs to look pretty much going back as it did when it arrived. I think that is a fair policy.

Whether you want to return the wig for a refund or exchange it for a different wig, you’ll still need to submit a return authorization form. At the end of the process you print a return label for the box. It is reasonably priced at about $8. If you are returning for a full refund, you’ll get your payment method credited less a restocking fee. However, if you want to exchange it for another wig, they’ll refund the entire amount as a store credit. Once your account is credited, you can apply it toward a different wig. This is exactly what I did, and it was easy peasy.

Basically you can try as many wigs as you’d like, in the privacy of your own home, as long as you are willing to pay to return what you don’t want.

What Do You Think About My New Hair?

I ultimately ordered the next longer wig, the Rochelle wig in the mochacinno color. Here’s a video for a look at it being modeled.

I’ve now purchased two expensive wigs from Godiva’s Secret Wigs. I have been impressed with the quality of the wigs and the support provided by this shop. Here’s a quick picture I took of myself wearing the wigs (sans makeup). I think it covers my neck quite nicely.

But the proof isn’t with what I think, it’s with what others think. So I’ll ask: What do you think about my experience, and more importantly, about the looks of my new wig? Please feel free to leave your comments. I’d also love to hear about your own experience with shopping for wigs.
